Regenesis believes in cycling as a powerful form of exercise and green transportation, as it has been shown to have both health and environmental benefits. As an exercise, it improves physical and mental health, but also serves as an active transportation alternative for short trips, reduces car dependency and, therefore, lowers carbon emissions. At Regenesis, our cycling initiatives include bike clinics, community bike centres, and group rides.

Cycle York Community Bike Centre

Cycle York Community Bike Centre is located in the Black Creek neighbourhood of Toronto. We are a DIY community bike space, a cycling advocacy, education and social group running under Regenesis York that works towards advocating for cyclists’ needs and services in the community. We offer a variety of services and programming from the selling of affordable second hand bikes to DIY repairs, from group rides to bike maintenance workshops and more.

Our programs include:

  • Earn-A-Bike: a 5 week long program teaching participants how to fix up a bike that they get to take home at the end

  • Trans, Women and Non-Binary Tuesdays: shop space during these hours is reserved for folks identifying as such and often includes workshops

  • DIY Shop Hours: people can use our tool and use our staff’s knowledge to fix their own bikes

  • Farm and Food Group Rides: the group rides explore the neighbourhood and highlight local businesses

  • Spokesfolks Radio Series: a collaboration with CJRU 1280AM in which Cycle York invites guests involved in making Toronto a more accessible and diverse cycling city
