Job Title: Farmers’ Market Coordinator
Location: UofT St. George & TMU
Work Setting: Hybrid
Duration: 20 to 30 hours per week over 4 months in the May 1- August 31
Reports To: Chapter Coordinator
Position Overview:
Regenesis is a community environmental organization that supports local campus chapters and their sustainability initiatives. We are seeking a Farmers’ Market Coordinator to establish and maintain a vibrant farmers’ market on the UofT St. George & TMU campuses for the summer term. This role involves planning, outreach, logistics, and market-day operations to foster a community hub for local farmers, artisans, and students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vendor and Community Engagement:
Conduct outreach to local farmers, artisans, and community members to secure market vendors.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors, customers, and community partners.
Act as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and support.
2. Farmers’ Market Operations:
Plan and oversee market logistics, including location setup, stall layout, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Organize vendor agreements, schedules, and payment tracking.
Coordinate day-of operations, including setup, takedown, and on-site support.
3. Marketing and Promotion:
Develop and implement promotional strategies through social media, email newsletters, and on-campus outreach.
Create marketing materials to attract both vendors and customers.
4. Administrative Duties:
Manage market finances, including budgeting, tracking revenues/expenses, and ensuring financial sustainability.
Collect vendor and customer feedback to evaluate and improve market performance.
Maintain organized records of market activities, vendor agreements, and communication logs.
5. Volunteer Coordination:
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with market operations.
Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for volunteers.
Qualifications:
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with social media platforms and promotional strategies is an asset.
Previous experience in event coordination, project management, or community organizing is preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and university policies is an asset.
Ability to represent Regenesis professionally in all communications and interactions.
Passion for sustainability and community engagement.
