California Food Insecurity Rates and Food Bank Locations
This interactive map allows you to explore county-level food insecurity across California.
Food insecurity is defined as the state when an individual does not have enough to eat and doesn't know where their next meal will come from.
Knowledge on the accessibility of food banks across CA counties can inform local organizations where their assistance is most needed.
This map highlights key free food distribution sites in Westwood, including the Westwood United
Methodist Church Pantry, PATH Shelter, and the Westwood Transitional Village. These
resources are situated near familiar landmarks and intersections, making them accessible to
local residents and students. However, there are still areas in the neighborhood that lack
adequate food support. That’s where Regenesis steps in — by identifying these underserved
zones, we aim to expand access and create a stronger, more equitable food security network in
Westwood.
On-campus food support is mapped here using data from the UCLA Financial Wellness
Program. With sites located near central hubs like Royce Hall, Powell Library, and the Student
Activities Center, students can access resources conveniently between classes. Still, not every
corner of campus is equally served. Regenesis is committed to filling these gaps — advocating
for new resources, forging partnerships, and ensuring that every Bruin knows where their next
meal is coming from.
