Web Developer

Job Description:

The Web Developer will be responsible for updating and maintaining the websites of the organization and our affiliates. The Web Developer is also responsible for the development of new websites, or revamping the development of an existing website.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with management to discuss the plan and needs of the website and its affiliates

  • (Re)designing and creating layouts for the organization and affiliate websites with visual content, text, and interactive components, ensuring they are user-friendly, engaging, and accessible.

  • Integrating graphics, tools, animations, and video into the website

  • Creating and testing applications for the website

  • Utilizing your judgment and UI/UX experience to determine improvements for the organization and affiliate websites, including suggestions for potential text, photographic, illustration or video content. 

  • Provide updates to the organization and affiliate websites, including highlighting new milestones and accomplishments.

  • Ensuring all information on the organization and affiliate websites is up-to-date.

  • Ensuring all links on the organization and affiliate websites are working.

  • Ensuring SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for the organization and affiliate websites via Google Ads and Google Analytics

  • Troubleshooting and managing email integration issues connecting our websites and newsletter management systems

  • Collaborating with other team members on the website’s design and content

• Represent the organization in a professional and congenial manner in person, in online meetings, in telephone  conversations, and in written correspondence

• Delegation or sharing of duties with others as necessary

Qualifications:

University degree in a related field (completed or in-progress), supplemented by a minimum of 1 year related experience which demonstrates the competencies noted above and below. Equivalencies to work experience will be considered.

Proven work experience in web programming

  • Familiarity with programming languages

  • Basic knowledge of SEO processes

  • A portfolio of work building other websites available for the assessment of skills in web development during application process

Assets:

  • Course completion in Beginner and/or Advanced Google Analytics

  • Proven working experience in SEO and Google Analytics

  • Bilingualism in English and French

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the program; and

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Regenesis is a community environmental organization dedicated to empowering students to address today’s environmental and social concerns through advocacy and local service. We focus on creating practical student-led environmental initiatives and programming. Our services help provide free or low-cost services and meaningful leadership opportunities for students, all the while, making our communities, cities, and planet more sustainable. We support diverse and equitable food access and sustainable food production through our programs and initiatives which include good food' markets, community gardens and agriculture, food centres meal programs, research and workshops.
